A resort-inspired landscape designed to elevate rural family living with refined architecture, luxury materials and a calm, contemporary atmosphere.
Studio Alba transformed this expansive Harkaway property into a high-end outdoor retreat centred around a 7.5 x 4.0m negative-edge infinity pool. Finished in Bisazza “Delhi” mosaic tiles and framed with Kimberley travertine coping, the pool creates a striking visual statement from all angles, supported by a concealed balance tank for a seamless overflow.
The existing alfresco and decking are retained and enhanced with a new steel-framed pergola and climbers to introduce shade and vertical greenery. A generous travertine entertaining terrace accommodates a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with concrete benchtops, timber-batten cabinetry, BBQ, pizza oven, bar fridge and sink—forming a true outdoor living hub.
Movement through the garden flows via exposed aggregate surfaces, crushed path bases and steel-edged beds. Concrete bench seating, antique feature pots and bluestone crazy paving steppers provide sculptural moments and texture across the site.
A layered planting palette blends hardy Mediterranean species, structured evergreens and soft groundcovers suited to the rural setting. Pink granite boulders help retain levels, while irrigation tanks, bin areas and equipment zones are screened with climbing plants and batten cladding for a tidy, cohesive finish.
The result is a timeless, architectural landscape that supports large-scale entertaining, everyday family life and quiet moments overlooking the surrounding environment.
